Introducing Patch360 by Rimo3

What’s up, everyone!

If you are tasked with application packaging and management, then Rimo3 has some great solutions out there. This week I like to introduce you to Patch360! A really simple way to onboard existing packages to your Rimo3 Workspace360 environment. Join me in this post as I show you what Patch360 is and how it works.

Enjoy

Patch360: Your one stop shop?

Rimo3 offers various solutions to help you modernize, package and manage your applications. Workspace360 is the core of Rimo3 solutions. It’s an amazing way to package and modernize applications in an automated fashion. You can even export the package to Microsoft Intune or Nerdio Manager once the packaging / modernization process is complete. The following solutions are part of Workspace360:

  • Discover360
  • Package360
  • Validate360
  • Patch360

We could ask ourselves if we need to package every application ourselves? Especially support apps like the well-known Adobe Reader or other apps like Citrix Workspace, Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise, Firefox etc. Packaging and testing these apps can become a time consuming task if you are working for a large company. It could become even more complex if you work at a MSP that supports multiple companies.

Patch360 here to help! This portal based solution provides an overview of a lot of applications that you can onboard to Workspace360. You can even choose which version you want to onboard.  The content of Patch360 is growing rapidly. Currently Rimo3 Patch360 boasts over 6400 apps and 24000+ installers! (See screenshot below)

It’s also worth mentioning that Patch360 is included in the core SKU which means there are no additional costs associated with this solution.

Enough introduction, it’s time for a small demo!

The portal experience

And what better way to kick things off with a screenshot of the portal. You get a clean portal experience with a search bar once you signed into Patch360. You can search Patch360 using the search bar or you can simply scroll down to get an overview of various applications that are present in Patch360:

Let’s onboard the latest version of Citrix Workspace to Workspace360. Click the select version button. A new screen will show you the various versions that are available in a nice ordered list:

In this case I wanted to latest version so I will select version 24.5.11.31 an click the Onboard button.

That’s all there is to it! You can copy the URL that is presented and it will take you to sequence details in Workspace360 so you can get more detailed information like the results of the malware scan. You can also visit the Sequences tab where you see an overview of the resulting tasks:

One thing that I haven’t discussed yet is that you can actually select the step where you want to onboard the app. Two screenshots up, you can see something that is called Progress step and it’s set to Fully Automation Validation. You can change this setting to the following steps:

  • Import
  • Discover
  • Onboard
  • Fully Automated Validation

What's next?

Rimo3 is working at a high pace to evolve and improve it’s products. This is also true for Patch360. One feature that is recently released is you as an admin can now determine if you want to import new versions of apps that you have already imported. Just follow these steps if you wat to enable this feature:

  • Sign in to Rimo3 Workspace360. Select Menu, Settings.
  • From the General settings, click the + button to add a setting.
  • Select configuration property and search for Patch360.
  • Add the setting: Host.GeneralSettings.Patch360AutoUpdate – Enable the automatic import of the new versions of 3rd party applications that you have previously imported from Patch360.
  • Enable or disable the setting.

There are more updates coming to the product. You can expect to see the following updates in January 2025:

  • A new automated pipeline option – export to Intune. If the app passes validation it will be automatically exported to your default Intune tenant.
  • Rimo3 will now import the logo and additional metadata to Intune.
  • Notifications – get notified by email or Teams when we auto update an application.

Finishing up

If we go back to the question, is Patch360 your one stop shop when it comes to apps? The answer is probably no, but in all fairness I do not think that there is such a thing as a one stop shop for apps. Rimo3 is evolving at a high pace and Patch360 is a great additional resource by allowing admins to onboard apps into Workspace360. Once the package is onboarded, you can decide what your next move will be. Do you want to export the package to Microsoft Intune or Nerdio? Or do you want to modernize even further by converting the app to MSIX or FlexApp One? Or do you want to capture the app as an App Volume? The choice is yours!
